More on RSS feeds!

I just added a feed for OCLC system alerts, which will notify me when a problem with an OCLC database is identified or resolved, or when maintenance is scheduled. I found out about the feed from a post on one of the discussion lists I subscribe to: OCLC-CAT.

Just prior to this, I'd been exploring the various feed search tools. I liked Bloglines search tool best. It was easy to use and very comprehensive. I've heard a lot about Technorati, but I didn't see any feeds that were particularly interesting to me on that site. Maybe they would be interesting for off-work hours, but not so much for professional reading!

RSS feeds

I'm finally getting around to week 4! I had a few RSS feeds on my Google toolbar, so I switched them to Bloglines, and added several more. You can view my RSS feeds at http://www.bloglines.com/public/MaryPaige. I don't know whether I'll be able to keep up with them all! I subcribe to so many professional discussion lists that I spend a lot of time every day scanning, reading and/or deleting emails. I already feel as though I'm experiencing information overload. That's life in the 21st century, I guess!

NSU Law Library Joins FaceBook!

Thanks to librarian and TLC 2.0 mover/shaker Meg Kribble, the Law Library now has a FaceBook group. If you belong to FaceBook, you can see our group. (If you don't, it's easy to sign up!) Meg has included important information about our services, links to information resources, photos of the library, and news of interest to our members. So far, we have 29 members - mostly students, but some staff as well. It's too early to know exactly how students will use the group. I think it will be another tool to bring library resources to their attention, so that, when they need help, they will think of us.

And check out Meg's blog - it's something to aspire to! I've looked at most of the blogs created for TLC 2.0, and I'm really impressed by the individuality of each participant's

Flickr Mappr and FD Toys' Trading Card Maker

This is my trading card, made with the Trading Card Maker that Valentina told us about. It's also on my Flickr site, which you can see by clicking on the link in the next paragraph.
Here's what I did with Flickr Mappr! It was fun to do, but this whole picture thing has taken me a lot longer than I would have liked it to!

Geese window shopping in Hawaii

Geese window shopping in Hawaii!

I took this photo in Hawaii in 2002. The Marriott where we stayed had a gift shop in the courtyard, and this pair of geese seemed very interested in something that they saw inside! This was my first trip to Hawaii, and I was fascinated with the fauna and flora. You can see a few more of my travel photos on my Flickr site!
